Charity you can Trust

How can you possibly know if the charity you have chosen is trustworthy or not? Stephen Dent can assist you in identifying a reliable nonprofit organization. There are a few steps you may want to take to protect yourself and ensure that what you’re giving is going where it is needed most. Stephen Dent suggests that you take the following under consideration:
  • How long has the charity been in business?
  • Where was the charity or nonprofit established? In the US,
    Europe, or elsewhere?
  • Does this charity do business under any other names?

Stephen Dent also recommends the following:

  • See if your charity of choice has a Better Business Bureau listing
  • Do an Internet search of your charity to ensure there are no bad listings
  • Call the Corporation Commission to see if any complaints have been filed against the charity or nonprofit you have chosen.
You won’t always be able to tell right away if a charity is trustworthy, but if you use the Stephen Dent questions and considerations above, chances are your risk will be much lower.
